Why do we separate potium manganate from ethanol?
Under reflux/ heating, potium manganate(vii) which is a strong oxidising agent can oxidise the ethanol (a primary alcohol) to eth (an aldehyde) and then oxidise the eth to ethanoic acid (a carboxylic acid).
