I got declined for an apartment because I have no credit. Can I get a co-signer?

I am 19 and have lived in my current apartment for almost a year. I went to go find a new apartment yesterday and found one. I signed the lease and sent in my deposit but first they had to do a credit check. I explained that I don't have any credit... I pay everything online using a debit card and rarely use checks. I found out today that I was declined. Do you think they will allow me to move in still if I can get a co-signer or pay a few months rent in advance? This is a pretty nice place ($1000 a month) so I am not sure.
