Canada post tracking number not working?

I just dropped off a parcel at a post office and used express post service 2 days ago. The person working there gave me a receit with a tracking number on it. I went home and tried the number many times on canada post's website, and it never worked. Just says we were not able to find this or something. What could've gone wrong? My parcel was worth atleast 1000 CAD
